First single I ever bought with my own money was Showaddywaddy's "Under The Moon of Love"...Showaddywaddy, for all the people who's first "record" was a CD (Oh God I'm soooo old!), were a group int he 70s in the UK who dressed in Zoot Suit style and released records with a faux-50s sound. Should be ashamed of that, probably, but can't be bothered.

First album I ever bought - again on vinyl - was Foreigner's Agent Provocateur. Not a great start to my music-buying life, but if the roack gods were angry, I appeased them with my second album, Blondie's debut, Parallel Lines.

And my first CD - Suzanne Vega's debut album, bought after watching a documentary on her. Not an everyday sort of album, but one I'm still proud to own and play.

The first CD I ever owned was Green Day's Dookie album - and heck no! I'm not ashamed of it.

The first CD I ever bought was the Mask soundtrack - and heck no! I'm not ashamed of it.

Don't remember ever buying any actual records, though. By the time I was old enough to buy things for myself cassette tapes were the thing - and yes, I am ashamed - I am too ashamed to tell anyone!

The first album I ever bought was Ted Nugent Free For All. Funny story: My sister owned it. So did my brother. When I bought it my parents said, "Don't your sister and brother have it?" and I argued back, yeah but they never let ME listen to it!

Am I ashamed? Only that it goes down in history as my first. My second was Styx - Pieces Of Eight which none of my siblings owned and is still a faveorite to this day. I still like a lot of the songs on the Nuegent album, but overall I am not the biggest fan of his.

The first one I ever bought was Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. I am now so ashamed it makes me want to cringe, even though I was only 4 at the time. What makes it worse it that I truly believed I could sing it like she does in the song, and I would also play the tape over and over again and never grow bored of it. My parents got pretty bored of it though, and I think they resorted to hiding the tape to get some peace.

Meet The Beatles. I won it in a school promotion. The teacher looked at the cover and wanted to know who those weird looking people were. This was a LONG time ago. Music came as records and that was it. Not even 8 track had been invented.

My first record was a 45 RPM, ' Seasons In The Sun', by Terry Jacks, and yes I still enjoy the song. It was the very beginning of a 2000 plus 45 RPM collection.
