I'm trying to plan my 17th birthday party! Any ideas? I was thinking of doing a themed party maybe? I've always done a pool party because I have a pool but I want to make it different this year.

Depends on what you like..........Retro 70's theme is fun.............Roaring 20's ...every 1 dresses in flapper and gangster costumes...............google it! Search for party themes.

my daughter had a party in a cabin at the state park. It was relatively enexpensive, $68 plus food, we cooked out, we were on a lake and in the middle of the woods, she loved it and so did her friends. the only downfall is that our cellphones did not work but there was a public phone close. For entertainment we had a waterballoon contest, roasted marshmellows on the campfire and told ghost stories.

I had a fear factor party for Halloween that was a blast. If you google "fear factor" and "party", you'll find tons of ideas.
You set up various races and feats of daring and have people who attend compete in teams for the championship. I had games including one where people drew a piece of paper from a bowl to determine what nasty food they had to eat (sardines in mustard sauce, a spoon of raw garlic, a chunk of goat cheese, etc...), another where they raced to dig a "body part" (ears, eyes, fingers, etc... made of gummy material) out of a cauldron filled with cooked oat meal, vinegar, & other goo and deliver it to the "surgical tray" on the other side of the field in relay fashion until all the body parts had been fished out, and finally a game where one person was locked up and the others had to dig the keys out of a box of kitty litter with fake poop (tootsie rolls) buried inside in order to unlock him.
Everyone had a blast, and in the end, the winning team got to squirt everyone else with pink silly string.
