The latest remake of "Pride and Prejudice" starring Kiera Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet. This movie is a feast for the eyes, filmed in locations with such wonderful attention to detail! The costumes are faithful to the Regency period, but more than that the costumes for each character have been designed to bring out the key traits of each character. These visual cues contribute so much to the nonverbal content of the story.

P&P is a long, complex novel, so some parts had to be abbreviated to suit the time constraints of a feature film. I must say I was very impressed with the skill and the precision the screenwriters and the director brought to making this movie. The scene where Darcy proposes to Elizabeth and she rejects him is usually shot indoors in one of the sitting rooms of Mr. Collins' house. In this latest remake, the scene takes place outdoors, in a gazebo, during a rather powerful rainstorm. The use of the storm to enhance the inner conflict of both Darcy and Elizabeth in contrast to the laws of social courtesy they must obey struck me as nothing short of brilliant.

See this movie! I plan to buy the DVD!

It was suspensful, interesting, well-made, had great acting, and I especially enjoyed the scenery of the setting in Africa.
