I already have a hub built in the wall where the main computer is, with network points in each room.

The adsl from the modem is plugged into the only network point on the computer. I was told to just unplug it from the computer and plug it into the hub then get a patch cable from the hub back to the computer but this did nothing.

I my be wrong but I believe that a hub won't work for sharing the DSL I believe that you need a router. In either case you need to plug the ethernet cable coming out of the switch into the router (it will tell you how to configure it) and then you have to plug the computers into the router via ethernet cables.

After that, the most important thing to do is make sure that your computers are set to automatically obtain an internet address from the router. But once again the information that comes with the router should tell you how to do that.

since you already have a hub, just plug your modem into your hub, and both computers into the hub. the connection would be shared.
if you had a router or a switch, you could take better advantage of the speed, but you still should be able to share your connection.

you ca connect the output from the adsl modem to the hub. then you can connect all other computers to the same hub. after that you have to login to the html page of the adsl modem nd set the ip address of it to be in the same network as that of one you are currently using in your home.( you can ask your isp agent to do this for you.) then in each computer you have to give this ip address as default gateway address.

if the dsl connection is already hooked up to the computer, just make sure that the internet connection is shared. Other than that, that should be all there is 2 it.
