Try to spend as much time as possible with other people and keep your mind busy with other things like listening to music, watching non-erotic movies, playing sports, etc.

C-mart is right. Where there's a will there's a way. I have had friends that struggled a lot with that. It's like any other addition. If you just stop, your likely to start again. First get rid of all of your porn, links to porn, etc..., Don't put yourself in situations where you are prone to do those things. Find things that can take your time and mind off of it. You need to fill the gap you've created. As cheesy as people may think it sounds, draw strength from your religious roots. Religion isn't suppose to be some seperate world from everything else in life. It is life. Serious, pray. It works. Surround yourself with people that support what your trying to do, not bring you down, mock you and such for wanting to change. If it's important to you, don't let other people make you feel stupid for it or convince you otherwise. You'll find that you'll have times where you feel like you can't do it or it's not worth it, you'll have to recommitte yourself more than once. If you feel like you've failed yourself, start over. Nobody is perfect. Talk with people who want to help you, or at least will just listen. You need support and you will find it, even if its not where you thought you'd find it. I know someone said you just need to find "the one" and it will go away. It doesn't work that way. They would just be a form of major support. Maybe you could just drop it cold turkey, but you would still have to make the effort. I have seen problems in friends marriages because of this same addiction. They said the same thing; that it wouldn't be a problem once they got married. Unfortunately they never fixed the problem and it torn their marriage apart. I have overcome my own demons of other sorts and it's never easy, but trust me it's possible. And it is worth it. It changes your whole view of life, others, and yourself. If you ever want to talk, e-mail me. It wouldn't be the first time I've had correspondance with a total stranger who needed someone to talk to.

find a girlfriend. If you can't find one of those you can try taking cold showers when you have a need to play with yourself. Willpower. and think of Roseane Barr naked. That should help. Or you could put an ice bag on top of your penis (with something in between never on bare skin )

It all comes down to a simple decision on your part and the will power to carry it out. Find other things to occupy your time so you don't get bored and feel inclined to do it.

yes sure one can. its in ones mind and somethng which is known as determination. i wont categorise either of these, as i wud term dem as habits, dey reflect ones inclination to vent ones sexual needs n urges in a more unharmful way, its more of an addiction which if practiced in limits can b tamed as per ones needs, but as it says once addicted though difficult but not imposssible. do it if its not harmful to anybody in any possible way and it cud b forgiven by d GOD.
