I have sony ercisson K508...
i want to reduce the size of the mp3 files, retaining it as mp3 file only.
help me in solving this issue.

go to www.dbpoweramp.com and download their free music converter which will let you convert between music formats and, more importantly, convert an mp3 to a lower bitrate
i use it all the time to convert huge mp3s at bitrates like 300 down to 128 or 96 - halving the bitrate will halve the size of the file

Although this helps you not at all I don't believe you will find a file format smaller then MP3, most other audio formats use larger amounts of memory; Perhaps lower the quality? Then again I wouldn't be able to tell you how.
