You're kidding, right? A Fiberglass-bodied, 6.0 liter v8 go-fast against a classic but steel-bodied, 265 cubic inch cruiser?
Technology has advanced so fars in the fifty years elapsed between those models of Corvette, the 56 wouldn't have a chance. It would win in a beauty contest any day of the week, but they don't even race in the same classes at the SCCA's races.
Of course, the 1956 model would go for far more money at auction.

The 2006 would be way faster,but the 56 is cooler.
But if I really wanted to race I'd get a 67 427 4speed :)

I would choose the '06 Corvette over its '56 namesake due to its performance, high horsepower ratings, technology, excellent handling, and styling. And don't forget it's a whole lot faster as well.

THe '06 hands down. Hate to burst your bubble but there are any number of 4 cylinder front drivers out there that would walk all over a '56 Vette!

I know the 2006 ZO6 would win, because it blowed the doors off the new Viper, GT, Modena 360, 911, and XLR.
