I know... its so annoying... although not all of them do it all the time, and their culture is not ugly (... how ignorant!) It;s just that they like following western trends, like having blonde hair, etc. But I don't think it's wrong either. People have different tastes, and so maybe they love following what other people do.

That ain't right.
To answer your question, I'm half East-Indian, and most kids like me identify with the white kids in school, given their values and priorities. Asian kids are the same too. Most of us detest hanging around the Latinos and blacks, unless they have good attitudes too.
Hence why many of us "act white".
On the other hand, there are SOME who go out of their way to be accepted by white people...but then again, no one likes those fools anyway, so who cares? They just end up finding out that BOTH their Asian and white friends leave them up a creek without a...

Well, what is "acting White"? And what is "acting Asian"?
I happen to be White, myself, and I've noticed that the Chinese culture is similar to my own, in that they value education and doing well in their careers. They want to live "respectable" lives, just like I do. The point is that doing that stuff isn't "being White," it's also part of "being Chinese." In any case, most of the Chinese people whom I know well are American-born. So why shouldn't they be like me, since we're all Americans?
And you know what else? People are always complaining about Mexicans coming over here and 1-refusing to learn English and 2-refusing to assimilate.
So its seems that no matter what non-White people do, SOMEONE is either going to complain that they don't "act American" or that they DO "act White." In other words, no matter what they do--someone, somewhere, will complain that it's WRONG. Does that seem right to you?

I think it is to do with the colonial history... that this imitation is more one sided... fewer whites end up in temples and monastries in India and other parts of Asia but they do. A great number of Asians do not really imitate the westerners, but they are savy and comfortable with bother cultures. Whites are largely at loss in non white places, while Asians can live between many cultures.... Its the teens who may take on a fad for a while but as they grow up, it becomes pragmatic and paractical adjustment.

Why do white people try to act Asian?
Because everyone thinks it's cool to act like some other culture. Hell, I'm American and I "try to act" Viking.

They don't . Youth of almost every country want to be American, until they get older and appreciate their own culture. I have found this in my country and when I travel to other countries.
Though i am also sure that there are tons of people that have never had a desire to be white. Why be pasty white when you can look a lot better?

I dont, many of them dont... for those who do... I guess that's the way they try to mingle, to cope with the new life in the new society (ie for immigrants) to not stand out and make friends and build relationships. For those who do it when they dont actually have too... I guess it's a lil rebellion (from their belief) there (actually it's a need for a growing society) and the rest... probably to stand out, to be popular, to follow the trend, to be someone else.
Oh thanks Headlock! And now... the boys in my highschool (currently in the states) are tracking down the asian girls... and oh yeah... thanks for the complement for me and for my culture...

How else do we conquer their oppression. Mexicans ought to offer up appearing white additionally. " Why ought to we supply up? it rather is the way our subculture is why do we ought to alter it in case you think of it rather is incorrect.
