Probably not. Which is not to knock Pujols, who is quite possibly the best in the league right now.
It's hard to compare. Mantle was a switch-hitter, and additonally could run very fast when his legs were healthy. Also Pujols needs to put a few more years behind him, and perhaps win a Triple Crown, as Mantle did in 1956.
The jury is still out on Albert Pujols.

Albert Pujols is having a tremendous season and a tremendous run of seasons over the last 3 years. However, he has not yet achieved all that Mickey Mantle achieved over his career.
So, Pujols definitely has a chance to be considered better than Mantle, but has not proven it yet.

no way to compare pujols has only been in the league what 5 years now. there are lots of players who had awesome starts to their career look at Juan Gonzalez or Mo vaughn or Frank Thomas. those guys were putting up huge numbers fro years then fell off the map. Dont get me wrong im a huge pujols fan and i think he is the best hitter in the league but to compare his first 5 years to the career of the mick is wrong - there is no comparison.

Not even close. Mick was a five-tool player. He won the Triple Crown in 1956. He won a Gold Glove in 1962 patrolling Yankee Stadium's cavernous centerfield. In his early days, he was once timed from home to first in 3.1 seconds. Despite chronic leg injuries he stole 153 bases. He won three MVP Awards.

He isn't better than Mantle TODAY, but someday, if he keeps up this level of play, he will be.
