Does anyone know the name of a movie, i believe its a 80's movie about Mechs that battle each other ?

The story is in the future, and nations settle disputes by fighting in these Mechs ( like the XBOX game Mech assault) and i know that the "bad" guys mech " Russian ?" looks like a spider, or octapus.
