it depends but mostly i find silence much more expressive. A look.......a gesture.......so much can be expressed through silence. Words can be good sometimes but they can be said without meaning..or the meaning can be taken the wrong way. I knew a girl who said she wanted her boyfriend to tell her that he loves her everyday. those words are easy to say but a true look can say so much more. Silence is the only way(i find) for knowing yourself and for true meditation. Silence expresses itself as who I am.

I think neither silence nor words are as expressive as music, which wins hands down (or hands on, as the case may be in the realm of instrumental music). However, I believe a quiet example is worth more than a thousand sermons, and people who learn how to listen after praying or meditating will remember personal answers much longer than something someone just tells them. As an English major, however, I would feel terribly empty without all the wonderful poetry and literature in the world, and I would be resentful if I could not create poetry, write plays, and compose songs.

For me it is all about the silence between words. Because words are you thoughts expressed but silence is your words being responded or criticized or accepted in someones mind. While speaking if you allow the other person to think your words you challenge him to understand you

Words. Silence is only expressive among the mute. To express means to draw the thoughts from your mind out into the world. You can do this with speaking, writing, mathematical calculations. Yes, occasionally one long glance speaks a thousand words...that may or may not be words of truth.

there r times wen silence is more expressive and gives the emotional effect u want but u cant really convey EVERYTHING u want with silence....words are definetely deceiving sometimes but there are times wen the best way u can express sumthing to sum1 is through words coz watever is in ur mind or heart comes out the best through words and even if u miss a few words, the most important thing is that u conveyed watever u thought or felt in a way that other people can understand....wats more expressive??? sumthing called actions......

Each is actually about the same most times. Think about it with silence you might not be speaking but you will express yourself through the use of body language. It is kind of like speaking words without actually saying anything.

Words are definately more expressive. Silence expresses whatever the looker interperates, words express the point you're trying to make.

Silence may be a deeper way of communication, but I think that if you find the perfect words--it may work even better.
When silent, the communication arrives from the actions and mood. The emotions and strengths one puts toward how words are spoken may be key.
