Anyone who thinks a C-Section is safer than a vaginal birth needs to do some serious study of the truth! C/S is major surgery that affects TWO people, and puts BOTH of them at increased risk of problems: A woman is 4 - 6 times more likely to DIE following a C-Section than a vaginal birth!

From the INTERNATIONAL CESAREAN AWARENESS NETWORK:

A cesarean section is major abdominal surgery with all that entails. The surgery itself, as opposed to medical problems that might lead to a cesarean increases the risk of maternal death, hysterectomy, hemorrhage, infection, blood clots, damage to blood vessels, urinary bladder and other organs, postpartum depression, post traumatic stress syndrome, and rehospitalization for complications. Potential chronic complications from scar tissue adhesions include pelvic pain, bowel problems, and pain during sexual intercourse. Scar tissue makes subsequent cesareans more difficult to perform, increasing the risk of injury to other organs as well as placenta previa, placenta accreta, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancies and the risk of chronic problems from adhesions. There are also risks to the baby such as respiratory distress syndrome, prematurity, lower birth weights, jaundice, lower APGAR scores (APGAR is the means of assessing the health status of a newborn), and finally in 1 to 9 percent of cases the baby is scarred or even maimed by the scalpel.

Anyone who CHOOSES to have a C/S for NO MEDICAL REASON is either very ignorant or very selfish. And the doctors who do these unnecessary cesareans for no medical reason should be jailed. If a person, any person, subjected a two year old to the same type of risks that you put an unborn baby to during a c-section for absolutely no reason whatsoever - you would get charged with child endangerment!

And by the way, Angelina Jolie did not CHOOSE to have a C-Section to protect her body. She had planned to have a waterbirth at home, but it was discovered when she went into labor that her baby was in the breech position, so ended up with an unplanned C-Section.

Usually doctors won't perform a C-section as an option, but vaginal birth does change a womens body because the pelvic bones have to spread to allow the baby to pass through. Some women need to have a C-section in order to keep their body the way it was before pregnancy, like actresses....take for instance Angelina Jolie who just had a C-section, I'm sure it was so her body would still look the same after she loses the extra weight from pregnancy.

No, because it really puts the baby at risk and it can even put yourself at risk...it's not worth it at all!!! You forget about the pain of childbirth after you hold your baby in your arms. And IF you do the right exercises than your body pretty much goes back to it's original shape and size. I had two good sized babies (8lbs 5 oz 21 and a half inches long and 9 lbs 21 inches long) and I had them both naturally and I wouldn't change that for ANYTHING in this world. C sections are a surgery and SHOULD NOT be done if they ARE NOT necessary.

Sometimes, it's purely because of the pain they'd rather not endure. A baby isn't small. It's like having sex, except with only something coming out of your belly, and it's the size of a football or so. Ouch.

Sometimes, it's because their hole is literally too small and the baby won't fit through. It's possible. Although if that happened in a world without cutting your stomach open to fish out a baby, you'd be screwed, and so would it.

Sometimes, it's medical reasons, as you said.

Because who wants to lay in pain for hours and hours when it can just be over with in less than an hour.

Also why mess up your vagina?

I had a c-section cause my son was breech and i had pre-eclampsia but the whole time i was pregnant i wished and prayed for a c-section and if i have another baby it will be another c-section.

Yes it may take longer to heal but i would prefer that over a vaginal delievery

I can't even begin to tell you the reason. I would never want a c-section. I really loved the feeling of accomplishment that a vaginal birth brought. I was so excited about the birth of my child that the pain didn't bother me at all.

There can be several reasons. The size and position of the baby (e.g. breech presentation), a previous c-section; medical conditions (diabetes), And to choose the birth date of their baby.

Women do it as a convenience for themselves. I delivered both my daughters vaginally. I did NOT want a c-section because it would have taken longer for me to heal. Many women do it for the following reasons:
1-they think if they give birth vaginally, their vagina will become "loose."
2-they want their baby to be born when they feel it should be
3-they don't want to go through the pain of vaginal birth
4-Fear of the unknown with vaginal births

little hint...vaginal births do NOT mess up your vagina if you do keegals. At least it didnt mess mine up...lol

I have had both and I think I would chose c-section agine, because you don't have to be in any pain during delivery. The other way you have to wait till it hurts really bad before they give you any medicine.

SEX. That's the reason. Because, very legitimately, you may not want your husband feeling like banging into a "large put" and would still like to give him that hot feeling of suffocating his di*k in your pus*y. I mean why would you wanna have it naturally when you can keep yourself in shape with a C section?
