I mean, they really server no purpose other than to look all shiny. We can manufacture them now for very little cost for use in items that need them such as sandpaper and diamond drills. Just asking the question.

If I had a choice between a diamond and a b****** gaming computer... you know i'd choose the computer! Yes I am a woman and I think the whole diamonds thing is absolutely stupid. I wear a small one only to honor my husband becasue he got it and it's part of the wedding ring and it serves the purpose to let others know I was engaged and I am married but if i could get it without the diamond that would be better becuase I am constanlty scratching up myself and when the kids were young i'd scratch them changing their diapers. It is a pain in the butt.

Yes.. people have put too much value on material goods that don't serve a real purpose other than for aestheics. Diamonds are only good for drills and cutting. At this point, we have created a method to develop man made diamonds that have the exact same composition as the diamonds from the earth.

That's a bunch of BS. Diamonds have little if any value except to a retail jeweller. Purchase one for yourself and see how much money you can resell it for to a jeweller. You'll be lucky to get 1/5 of the original price. They lose their value about 100 times faster than a new car, and that's fast!
Diamonds were made popular years ago by the DeBeer's diamond cartel in Africa. They used clever, yet deceptive marketing to attract superficial women as customers and they have been popular among vain women ever since.

PS: Alcohol works better for dropping women's panties and it's a whole lot cheaper.

Diamonds, properly mounted in a wearable fashion, serve as a non-refundable down payment for a most peculiar (yet common) long term contract.

Their use in this regard stems more from tradition than intrinsic worth, as they do not seem to extend or insure the duration of the contract.

well, they're not worthless but they are hugely overpriced primarily because of the DeBeers de facto monopoly ...

but they ARE lovely ... especially when received as a gift from the right man ...

I think it's crazy for people who really cannot afford them to but them anyway because of the intense peer pressure ... a good CZ looks the same to most everyone except a professional jeweler with a loupe ...

diamonds are valuable because they are a freak creation in nature and are expensive to mine and cut correctly. They have always been popular.

I agree that they are ridiculously expensive but they are amaizing that they are natural.

I personally do not like diamonds. I like stones with color, opals, emeralds, topaz peridots etc.
