Long story short, I went to myspaceguru.net, and all sorts of things downloaded onto my computer. Someone told me to download Spybot Search and Destroy and that's what I did. It got rid of most of the problem, but the same problems come back every time I start my computer back up to use. It seems that I have to start up and scan with S&D every time prior to using my comp. I wont even get o the pop ups that I cant get rid of. Please help me!! Before I went to this site, and got these problems, I havent had any problems with my computer, let alone pop ups. How to clean this crap out of my system without installing a popup blocker?

My advice is to uninstall Spybot. Go to Control Panel, Add remove Programs. As long as you there uninstall any other junk you do not use. When in doubt do not uninstall any software you are not sure of. Reboot after each uninstall.

Go to www.download.com and get Adaware. Update your virus software and scan for viruses and scan for spyware with Adaware. Also get Service Pack 2 from microsoft.com

BTW that is a nice picture. Cool

Actually Idk either but if you don't want pop-ups to appear without installing any pop-up blocker.... what type of browser do you use?

There's an option to block pop-ups in Internet Explorer and Avant Browser. Idk about the other browsers though. You just have to go to 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options' -> 'Privacy' -> check box that says 'block pop-ups'

Or in Avant Browser, 'Tools' -> 'Block Unwanted Pop-Up Pages'

Uh... does that answer your question or not? Um, I think the other browsers should have this option too.

Well. you seem to have spyware, malware and adware installed in your PC and obviously your PC lacked security sw to prevent unwanted programmes from downloading and installing itself without even asking for your permission...!!! I only sincerely hope that you have XP in your PC. Otherwise with older OSs its really a loosing battle and no matter what you do they will always be there to take away your peace of mind. Beleive me, I have suffered enough...!!!!!! For older OSs you are left with no option but to reformat and reinstall the OS and then go to step 2 to ensure that this thing does not happen again. In case you have XP, then perform both the steps:

Step 1- First thing first, to get rid of all these unwanted programmes you have to wheel your PC back to the time when it was working perfectly and these programmes had not invaded your PC. You have to go to start-->all programmes-->accessories-->system tools-->System Restore. Then from the winldow that appears select 'Restore my computer to an earlier time'. In the next window, you will see a calendar with dates in bold for which restore points are available. Carefully check the dates and choose one which would be the date after which your PC was infiltrated. Then clck next twice for the restoration to start (Steps are self explanatory). Once the restoration is completed, hopefully you will not see those programmes anymore. Now you have to protect your PC from this kind of thing happening again. For this go to Step 2.

Step 2 - You should ideally have these protective measures taken:
a) One Antivirus SW which is low on resource intake but high on security and preferrably free (!!!!). I use Antivir which is pure magic. Download and install from http://www.free-av.com/
b) One Anti Spyware SW. I use Micosoft Anti Spyware. Unfortunately it is available for download only in PCs that run genuine Windows OS. Try to get a copy of the SW. Download it in a PC with genuine windows os and then install in your PC.
c) Install one SW which keeps an eye for programmes which try to install and then add itself to the startup/registry. I use Winpatrol and the SW is awesome. Get it at .http://www.winpatrol.com
d) Get Yahoo POPUP Blocker. This is must just like above mentioned SW
e) Remember to take a system restore checkpoint every so often. So that in time of emergency you can restore your PC. Remember never to click on any window that begs for you to click. Any window that pops up by itself is highly dangerous. Dont even click anywhere on that window. Instead right click at the window name on the task bar and click close. A few clever windows even disable that option. You have to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and then from the window that appears, click on that winow entry and click on 'End Task'. And last but the least, always keep item a, b, and c updated.

These are a few of Internet browsing safety measures one must take to ensure one's peace of mind.
