It is a natural secretion (like many other secretions - mucus, tears, ear wax, saliva - you probably wouldn't get much from knowing exactly what it is made of).

Its role is to provide lubrication to aid in intercourse - allows for penetration. There are no nutrients in a woman's lubrication that aids in keeping sperm alive - though does make it more hospitable by normalizing pH if needed. You will note that at mid-cycle your secretions will be thinner. Later in the cycle they will get heavier and stickier. It is fair to say the thinner secretions while not aiding in fertilization, it does not hinder it. Sperm are transported via ejaculation and then they have flagella (tails) that move back and forth to propel them forward.

Its a natural secretion made by the body to keep the sperm alive and provide a means of transportation. It's packed with the nutrients needed by the sperm as well as keeping it safe from exposure to anything else. Simply put, its the thing that gets sperm to the egg. nuff said

A lubricant, to ease sexual intercourse. It also helps normalize the acidity in the vigina (sperms will soon die in a highly acidic environment), and it also creates the environment for the sperms to travel to their final destination.

This can carry STD viruses.
