In Ireland we take the Leaving Certificate before we can enter college. We get points from that and we use those points to get into college, what happens where you are from?

Something like that.......
For high school - average estimation + exam from language and from mathematics.......After few days you have point scoring finished and know can you go in school you wish or must try a differed school (obviously worst)......
For college (faculty) - average estimation from high school + 2-3 exams (deepens what faculty or college you want to sign in).....About few days you have a list (like in the high school) and you see - do you en roll in faculty (college)

In England and Wales, we take GCSEs at age 16. After them, we study for two years for "A" Levels. Like in Ireland, the results from the "A" Levels are converted into points, and how many points you have determines where you go to university.

South Africa :-
1. Matric ( 12th Grade ) - school leaving
Two streams of Matric -
a. Standard Grade - entry into tertiary Technical colleges(Diplomas)
b. Exemption (higher/Academic) - entry into University - degree courses
2. University Entrance req.
a. Gain points during matric yr.
b. Entrance tests
3. On completion of 3-6 yr degree :- Qualifying Exams of professional bodies viz. Medicine,Public Accountants etc.

The main college entrance tests in the US are the SAT and the ACT.
