If you truely loved each other and wanted to make a commitment?
What about your pet, do you think that if gay people can marry, somebody should be able to marry their pet?
Is it OK to make a sin to be legal if you are open about it?

I will tell my opinion about this all later...everybody feel free to give answers.

I started t reply to some of these Q' and there were invalid e-mail adresses, go figure
Christians are not the only group against gay marriage.
I really did not compare gay marriage rights to marrying your pet...two different mind blowers...both are impossible subjects to me.

Everybody has a reason to not to vote for gay marriages, WHY not Bible.

I guess by allowing gay marriage we would have less priests molesting little boys ( I am aware that it is not only boys ) because priest cannot marry.

Why cannot priests marry? I do not see it anywhere in the Bible that priest should not marry. I think one Pope started it. Maybe to gain more money for the church.

If gay people would be able to have tax breaks, they can by marrying a person from the opposite sex...so how their rights are violated??

Leviticus 18 (Unlawful Sexual Relations) Vs. 6-29.
God commanded us not to do as they did in Egypt.
To directly answer your question Vs. 23 Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must
not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of GOD? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of GOD. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our GOD. (This only comes through repentance, after you ask Jesus into your heart)
1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

God established marriage in the Garden of Eden as the union of one man and one woman for LIFE. He wants marriage to be held in honor. If God was going to approve of more than one mate, he would have established this principle in the Garden of Eden, where the man and woman were both sinless. GOD did not do that and it was only mankind that perverted his standards. GOD never changed his mind. If you want to look this up yourself, you can read Genesis Chapter 2.

What a narrow-minded, illogical and uninformed question.

The current legal definition of marriage is "a man and a woman." Now, if you legalize gay marriage, then either way you are going to have two people getting married. The question here should be: is there a logical and satisfying reason why marriage should only be between "a man and a woman" and not "between two people." I cannot think of one.

This is just another way for conservative Christians to justify denying civil rights to a group of people against whom they discriminate. With polygamy, I believe there are tax issues, and with "marring their pet," the pet has no say, and marriage is between two willing partners. This comparison is very weak and simple-minded.

And anybody who mentions that gay marriage should not be allowed because it is condemned by the bible should realize that it is not doing any harm or infringing on the civil rights of anyone, and so you do not have the right to deny gays this freedom just because you irrationally disagree with it. This is a perfect example of Christian hypocrisy and intolerance.

Edit: Wait, so you're saying that keeping gay marriage illegal is not a violation of their rights because they can still marry somebody for whom they have no interest? How is that logical? What is the difference between them marrying somebody of the opposite sex and them marrying somebody of the same sex, other than the fact that they would actually be happy and the rest of America would actually have to show tolerance?

You should feel rude and ridiculous about that pet thing!! You can't compare people with anything else, when it comes to marriage and such. But I feel any adults that love each other and want to share a life should be able to. Limiting who is allowed to be married is strictly a religious set of rules, so should not be allowed in our United States. There are no criminal, health, or human reasons to not allow any amount of consenting adult participants in a marriage; only subjective, religious ones. Personally, I wouldn't want two husbands, as I had enough trouble with one.
P.S. You can't make a sin legal; it's only a sin to those that follow certain religious doctrine and no problem otherwise.

Regardless of what you think about gay marriage... It makes me so angry that the White House/Senate is making this a top priority when there are way more important problems to deal with... the economy, world hunger, disease control, homelessness, social security reform, health care reform, ETC.... whether or not two people in love have the right to get married is not a major problem right now.

Seperation of church & state. This is not a Bible issue people! The purpose of government is to UPHOLD individual rights, not violate them. Thomas Jefferson said when a government ceises to up hold the rights of the individuals, that government should be overthrown!
The persuit of happiness...ring a bell, anyone.
As far as the pet thing goes...well if YOU chose to go backward on the evolutionary scale, don't expect us to foot the bill!
By the way, I already have a good husband,
but I sure could use a good wife!

I already know your opinion on this. You are against gay people. It's obvious about the way you wrote the question. And no, you should not be able to have 2 husbands or marry your pet, etc. no matter what. CAN you imagine what controversy that would cause. "My wife went and married another man. I don't even like him. What do I do when they want to get together with me?" Or, "Fluffy makes me soo happy, I can't wait to have babies together." JEEZ, that's just disgusting.

Personally, i think it is very sad that it has come to this!! It states right in the bible that this is wrong. Our whole country seems to be caving in to so much sin, it is scary!! How am i to explain these things to my 3 children?? UGH!! I think all that is going on in our society today alond with Mother nature and things around the world we are nearing the end anyway. Our culture is so far away from the way it truly should be and how GOD intended it to be, just sad. We are allowing to be ruled by sin.

First of all, the asker said nothing of beastiality - your dirty mind took it there.

The real point is that gay marriage is the precipace of a slippery slope - it leads to exactly this kind of thinking. Why, if one thinks gay marriage is ok, is polygamy not ok? I don't believe polygamy is ok, but I don't think homosexual marriage is, either.

What is the destinction between gay marriage and polygamy? If gay marriage is ok because they want to and you have no right to impress your views on others, why isn't polygamy treated the same (if they want to, don't impress your views on others)?

In other words, you'll have to defend your support of gay marriage with a different argument unless you believe polygamy is legitimate, because you can defend either that way. In fact, you could defend almost anything that way ("If I feel I should be able to shoot my mother-in-law, I should be able to - don't impose your views on me!").

Honestly, with the way that the economy is going, 2-income households aren't going to cut it anymore.

We are all going to need 3 or 4 incomes just to pay for rent/mortgage, gas and food.

There might not be an alternative.

Marrying another human being is not like marrying an animal, automobile or job.

I dont agree with the gay part, nor paligamy.
But.. if gay marriage was ok.. then so should paligamy. and vice versa.
This is a democracy people, not a religious virtue class.
And even if it is a democracy, Gay marrage is still wrong.
it is a cheat way to get price off taxes and stuff.. it is a hoax

I am against gay marriage, but it is idiotic to compare it to marrying a pet, or your other points. Take a moment to think, then get back to us.
