Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is a lot of fun. (Stephanie is a New Jersey based bounty hunter - from her crazy family to her sexy boyfriend, her life is far from boring). A nice easy read but they are so funny. Start at the beginning and work your way up to 11 (which just came out in paperpack) and 12 (which just came out in hardback).
1. One for the Money
2. Two for the Dough
3. Three to Get Deadly
4. Four to Score
5. High Five
6. Hot Six
7. Seven Up
8. Hard Eight
8 1/2. Visions of Sugar Plums
9. To the Nines
10 Ten Big Ones
11. Eleven on Top
12. Twelve Sharp

Give em a try, you won't regret it. :)

Just read Dan Brown's Deception Point, it was pretty decent as far as mystery/thriller. Maximum Ride by James Patterson is good "science fiction". Any of the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly are good for mystery.

I haven't read any other genre's lately. The last non-mystery book I read was Anna Karenina. Wonderful, but not exactly light summer reading. :)
