It's not only the temperature that you have to worry about but all the other factors that go along with it. Such as ventilation, direct/ indirect sunlight, shading and water supply. a metal cage is with good ventilation in a warmer room would be much better then a plastic box with air holes at the top in a cold room. I would say it's wise to think in terms of where your comfortable. Add hay or some kind of soft material that they can burrow into if they are too cold and maybe put it's cage near a fan if it looks too hot.

Keep a fan near it in the summer, or at least remove any heavy bedding, so it doesn't suffocate. I live in Ohio and lost a hamster last summer due to the heat, better safe than sorry. If it's over 75, I'd say leave a window open or turn a fan on (make sure and adjust back down if the evening gets chilly)...the best thing would be a ceiling fan!

It is a very small mammal with a very high heart rate....and it's covered in fur.
It cannot handle heat....at all.
80 degrees is too hot for it.

Hi...things can't be avoided sometimes. Keep your piggie out of direct sun, keep his water bottle clean and full (bacteria form fast with high temp), don't put anything on his cage to keep out heat because it keeps out air too.
Good luck.

Good Lord, why?
Where do you have him?
I'd say when his skin starts peeling it's way to hot.

85 degrees and over and your guinea pig is likely to die from heat stroke.
