The difference between organic and inorganic is carbon. Such as oxygen would be inorganic and carbon dioxide would be organic. If a compound is organic, it has carbon in it somewhere.

Most carbon compounds have been called organic compounds.
Some of the many inorganic compounds are CO2, MgCO3, H2O, FeS, H2SO4 and NaOH

As i remmeber, organic is built up with Carbon and Hydrogen (high amount) mainly... for example gasoline, oil, metane, some types of acids like folic acid (sp?) ... inorganic is made up by only a few elements... Water (with Oxigen and Hydrogen), Carbon Dioxide (carbon and Oxygen) , Certain types of Acids like HCl, H2SO4 etc...

organic compounds are compunds consists mainly of carbon and hydrogen..
Eg: Benzene (C6H6), Acetone (CH3COCH3), Acetic Acid (CH3COOH)..
they might also contain other difrent atoms (but still carbon is the main atom): Tavlon (CF4), Freon (CF2CL2) and other..
NOTE: some INORGANIC compounds may also has carbon atom but still not organic (CO2) for example..
Inorganic such as: (HCL, NaOH, H2SO4, K2Cr2O7) and many other..
i can give you more details if u want to..

CH4 (methane) is organic, it has carbon.
NaCl (table salt) is inorganic, it doesn't have carbon.
I think it's that simple.
