L x W = 200
L = 2W
2W x W = 200
2W^2 = 200
W^2 = 100
W = 10

Area is length times width. Call the width W.
The length of this rectangle is defined as 2 times W, and its area as 200 square feet, so 2 times W squared equals 200.
Divide both sides by 2: W squared equals 100.
Take the square root on both sides: W equals 10.
The length is 2W, or 20. The rectangle is 20 feet long and 10 feet wide.

Area = 200
Area = Length * Width
if length = 2 * Width
therefore;
Area --> 2W*W = 200
2W^2 = 200
W^2 =100
W =(100)^1/2
W = 10
Length = 2W
Width = 20
Length -----> 10fts
Width ------> 20fts

Let x=width and y=length
This is what you can get out of the problem ------ xy=200 and 2x=y
Since 2x=y, plug 2x into the second equation for y ------ x(2x)=200
Multiply x times 2x ------ 2x squared=200
Divide by 2 ------ x squared=100
Take the square root of both sides ------ x=10
Now, go back to the other original equation (2x=y) and plug in 10 for x ------ 2(10)=y
Multiply 2 times 10 ------ 20=y
So, your answers are length=20 and width=10!

length * width = 200 ft^2
2x * x = 200 ft ^2
2x^2 = 200 ft^2
x^2 = 200/2 ft^2
x^2 = 100 ft^2
taking square root of both sides of the equation
x= 10 ft width
length = 2x = 2 * 10 = 20 ft
