Wow, you guys are really smart! Do you think that there's a way that people could learn to turn 'carbon dioxide and methane' into a more harmless gas? (I've read your answers and links and those two seem to be very harmful.)

Hydrocarbons in the atmosphere...

wow. But even if Industry stops being so harmful, could it be reversed?

Will the skies EVER be as blue as they were when we were children?

Global warming is the term used to describe how the average temperature of the planet is going up. No one denies that the temperature is, in fact, going up. Therefore, no one denies that global warming is a fact.

However, according to studies of Antarctic ice, the average temperature of the planet has been rising for 6,000 years, which is well before the Industrial Revolution of 150 years ago. This proves that global warming is not caused by man. In that time, however, the rate of temperature rise has increased, which means that the actions of humanity probably has worsened the situation.

The critical facts about global warming are these:

What are the effects of global warming going to be, and how can we prepare for them? Currently, no model of global atmospheric projection has shown itself to accurately predict to any degree the general weather patterns of the Earth (such as the number and ferocity of hurricanes). Until we come up with an accurate way of predicting the effects of global warming, preparing for them will be difficult and based upon conjectures, which are a difficult sell to taxpayers.

What can be done to limit the effect of humanity on global warming in the future WITHOUT putting a major damper on economic growth and development, especially in developing nations? For example, all nations could agree to stop driving vehicles that use internal combustion engines, but to do so at once would devastate the economies of many nations. However, other options, such as diverting tax funds to subsidize the development of alternative-energy propulsion for vehicles, would accelerate the advent of such earth-friendly technology.

All in all, because of the massive stakes involved when discussing global warming (and the subsequent misinformation flying around about it), many people are confused as to the facts about it. I was hoping to be as informative and unbiased as possible.

Please let me know what you think!

Global warming is a bunch of bull. The only real problem is when people actually listen and take people like Al Gore super cereal. lol
All that's going on is earths natural cycle, however all this is very new to us in the high tech age and perhaps the fact that this is a natural cycle is too simple to be true. So they have to make up a huge thing like Global warming so they can do all this pointless research. I mean i don't understand how they can say that today the earth is hotter than it was 2000 years ago. i mean how are you gonna prove that? I mean if it was hot like it is now 2000 years ago, then you have to know it's not a man made problem, there wasn't even anything close to our technology back then.
It's just rediculous that people will just believe anything scientists and politicians say instead of using common sense.

Honestly, we can't really, REALLY tell. There was a yahoo! news article the other day stating that the Earth is now the warmest it's ever been in 2000 years, and that it probably is due to manmade effects. HOWEVER, Global Warming does not necessarily mean greenhouse gases killing everyone. The earth's climate changes all the time. There was a mini ice-age in Europe in the 1300's. It happens all the time. We may just be in a warming trend already, with our fossil fuels helping. Either way, it's best to find cleaner energy sources simply because they are not clean-burning, but Global Warming probably does exist, just not as catastrophic as people say it is.

Yes it does. Kyle K states the plant has been warming for 6000 years. He then makes the statement it is not do the industrial revolution.
What he failed to say is the earth has warmed faster in the last 200 years than at any time in the past 200,000 years! It is no coincidence the rapid heating the last 200 years coincides with advent of the industrial revaluation with the resulting in the rapid release of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere.

We are right now bordering on an extreme climate change due to global warming. And i mean significant changes to our climate in the next 100 years. The global temperature is increasing at a faster rate right now than it ever has in the previous several million years. Bring up your homepage and type in "Global Warming" and you will see a lot of good sites.

Yes, it does. Sorry I know no sites on it. Global warming is when factories and other human made products like hair sprays and a whole bunch of stuff get into our atmoshpere (aka...pollution) and causes temperatures to rise which can cause the ice caps to start melting and in a few years cause a new ice age and lots of trouble. Hope that answered, just stop wasting stuff and recycle.

Global Warming is going to change the climate and cause Chaos in the world. I doubt people will change their ways. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is at an unprecedented level. That will cause a change in our climate that will happen rapidly and lethally.

as industrialism goes up more gases are put in the atmosphere traping more heat

the earth heats up, melts the icebergs which in turn makes the oceans colder , it all goes in cycles. the earth is constantly under going changes.. dale brown wrote a book about it. but i don't remember what it was called and he had included some web sites at the end of his book
