As someone who is 21, I see a lot of people trying to recapture their youth. I wonder why. Sure, you're young, but you are also trying to find your identity and for many, trying to make ends meet.

The people who say that are just stuck on the past...they can't face the fact that they're getting older. I've always said the present is the most important thing...cuz it's all you have.

For alot of people, it was a time of fewer worries, still willing to take some risks, more financial freedom, do more of what you want when you want, etc. As you get older the job you don't want to loose or can't has to be gone to, children are more likely to be in the picture, and even though you love them to bits, they cramp almost every style you have. You have to get to bed on time to get up on time, find money to keep things going in a world that isn't too middle or lower income friendly, part of your mind and heart are always on the family and the responsibility. Time moves at a much faster rate, it seems, and you are more aware of your mortality. Lots of responsibility has a tendency to make you forget how to have fun.
I wouldn't want to undo what I have lived because I got a wonderful daughter and granddaughters out of it, but a weekend or so vacation to parts of my younger years would be fun.

To be honest, my 20's sucked and the reasons you gave were just part of the picture. I am very much enjoying my 40's.
The day I turned 40 the realization that nothing had to be proved or done to satisfy anyone else except me was the very best gift that I recieved.

I was healthy, no worries, no pain. Now my body aches, what doesn't hurt probably doesn't work, my back goes out more than I do. I get winded getting out of bed.
I miss the times when I was tough and ruthless. Now I feel rough and toothless. =/

I would never go back to my 20's. I don't mind getting older at all, it's better than the alternative.
