You need a Router to share a DSL line. The DSL line comes into the DSL modem, which is wired to the Router. Then both computers are connected to the Router.

A Router must be hard-wired to at least one computer, but a Wireless Router could then be wireless to others (usually the laptop).

Your ISP might provide a wired or wireless router if you order it (Yahoo/SBC does). Otherwise you can buy one for under $100.

Talk to your ISP about what is required for their service.

Yes, or you can get a wireless router and a wireless card. It would be better than slow dial-up. If you decide to get wireless Internet, than get a Belkin wireless G+ MIMO router and card. It will cost you between $80.00 and 100.00.

To set it up, just plug the Ethernet line from your modem to the router. Then get another Ethernet line and connect it to port 1 on your router. Then plug it to your desktop. Next, put the wireless card into your carbus slot on your laptop. Then put the disk that came with the card in and follow the instructions

ya if you only want dialup line than use laptop RJ11 jack for this. For that you can use your PC DSL account in laptop for dialup access.
(DSL comes with backup dialup access also).

Good luck!!!!!
