No. It is an outdated and flawed system that is representative of qualities similar to that of the British empire in which our forefathers fought so desperately to get away from. We are becoming the United Empire of America....it is a very scary time in our history. I think politics have outgrown the fair representation of Americans.

No. The electoral college was established as a way to elect the president before mass voting was possible. Now that anyone can (AND SHOULD) vote, a simple majority gets the state tactic should be used to get the states votes. Essentially, this is what our system has become and the electoral college has only once gone against its' state's vote and that was in the late nineteenth century. We do not have a need for the electoral college, yet at the same time we essentially do not even really have an electoral college in effect.

Of course. Why should 6 or 7 states basically determine an election. California and New York alone would guarantee votes for Democrats that would negate the voting of at least 20 lesser populated states that feel otherwise. Popular vote is not the way to go.

As you saw in the past two elections, Liberals say the electoral college is a bad thing. But if it causes their guy to win it's a good thing. I say there is nothing wrong with it. It's worked this long and there is no reason it can't continue to work.

Actually we do..it ensures that the smaller states still get some say in the outcome..thank God it is still in effect otherwise we would of had Al Gore and Tipper in the White House, and after 9/11 they would of done nothing just like Clinton did, letting the threat strenghten and come back..plus if you remember the stock stared to crash during the final year of the Clinton administration

We do live in a Republic,,,,,, that's what a Republic is,,,,,,, you want Democracy,,,,,the country as a whole isn't smart enough yet..... the sad thing is the people we elect aren't that smart either or they just care about themselves and that goes for both parties.....

No, but its almost impossible to get rid of a government program once it has been started even if here is no longer a need for it.

Absolutely not. It is outdated, abused, and politically dysfunctional. But the "good old boys" sure love it.

I don't think we ever needed it. I really don't like it. Popular vote country wide should win.
