"Shall I describe it to you, or perhaps I could find you a box."
~Legolas to Gimli in The Two Towers
It was such a great line and really lightened up the situation before the big battle.
"It doesn't make much sense to me, but then again, you are very small"
~Treebeard to Merry & Pippin in The Two Towers
Same thing. I was using all those lines on one of my short friends for about a year after the movie came out.

"I made a promise, Mr. Frodo, a promise. Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee. And I don't mean to, I don't mean to."
Sam in The Fellowship of the Ring
"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really matter. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was, when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you...that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. " Sam
"What are we holding on to, Sam?" Frodo says.
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for." Sam
The Two Towers
Very timely wisdom, even today. I've always felt that Sam is the most profound.

Okay, normally I don't answer these sorts of questions, but there is a certain character who needs a bit of love and attention...
The quote: "The Dwarf breathes so loud we could have shot him in the dark"
The character: Haldir
The movie: The Fellowship of the Ring
The reason: because elves are freakin' amazing and the quote is perfectly elven.
And even though I am not a big hobbit fan my second choice would be Pippin with "It comes in pints?"

At the end of the first movie when Aragorn is telling Frodo that he would have gone anywhere with him to accomplish the task, even into the flames of Mordor.

"I wish The Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had ever happened.";
"So do all who live to face such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.";
- Gandalf to Frodo, in the Mines of Moria
that statement is just so true about life.

"The Dwarf breathes so loud we could have shot him in the dark." Because it captures the Lorien attitude perfectly, and because of the look on Gimili's face. Also: " If I should return, Please think better of me father," which Faramir says to Denethor before he rides out to Osgiliath on a suicide mission, because that sequence is one of the most moving in the enitre film.
