The FORCE..it's thought that he was made by midi-chlorians and was conceived by Shmi Skywalker...either Palpatine or his mentor (thought to be Darth Plageuis, sorry if I spelled it wrong) are thought to trick the Force into creating life..which explains why Anakin/Darth Vader is so strong in the Force..
