This is like asking whether the chicken or the egg came first. You would have to experience one or the other to use as a reference point. So, yes, I suppose you could be. But if you were, you wouldn't know just how happy you were until you experienced sadness to contrast it.

That's actually a good question and I'd have to say the answer would be no. If you've never experienced sadness, then happiness would not have a meaning. Because I could define happiness as one thing while the next person would say the same thing makes them sad.

If youve never been sad your parents did too much for you as a child and young adult. Parents are supposed to try and keep you happy but they are also supposed to teach you about life and dealing with sadness can be a major part of it. Hopefully at this point you never get sad because you might fall into a deep depression over something really simple if you cant find a quick fix for it

Can you be rich without ever being poor? Since happy is a word that truly has different definitons to different people, to me it means to have no immediate want or need and one is at zen. So yes you can be happy with out being sad. That is to say that one does not know the meaning of saddness. Often we "understand" the emotions that others feel without going through it ourselves. Such as when a close friend loses someone. You dont need to experience sadness to understand it. So there for one can still be happy without being sad.

No u cannot be happy if you have never been sad.
For example. When u have a problem u will be sad and when it is solved u will be happy.
Happy follows sad. If u be happy ever, then i think their will not be any value to happiness.

As adults, if never been in your life have you been sad then I think you would have a difficulty balancing or identifying which one's which. You wouldn't know the difference between sad and happy.
One thing counteracts another. If you have experienced the first one then you must experience the other to know the difference and to reach balance.

Sure, I've often seen little babies, giggling, gurgling and smiling contently in their Mums arms...no sadness there.I myself was generally happier before the various drama's of adult life hit me. If anything, the drama and the sadness may have diminished (slightly)
the scope of my happiness.

I think you can as long as you appreciate the fact that you haven't had to deal with sadness or depression. If you are aware of how lucky you are and don't take it for granted then I don't see why not.
