I asked this question earlier, but i described the insects as worm-like. Upon closer examination i realized they are not worm like. The are normal segmented insects with 6 legs. There rear-segment is white and is about 4 mm long (altogether, the insect is about 7-8mm). Their mid segment is brown. Their head black on top and brown on bottom. They have very tiny antennas.
All the way down their backs are tiny brownish black rectangles (i don't know how else to describe them). I saw them when i went to smoke, there were hundreds of them. The seem to have a soft exoskeleton because they do not crunch, and they squish to be a translucent leaf-shaped object. Does anyone know what they are.
(I live in Lubbock, Tx, if that helps any)

They are nutcase bearers, you must have a pecan tree nearby and it is infested with them. You may have to get a hold of your local Riddex guy to help resolve this situation. Here is the link that I found. If you type in Lubbock Texas insects into the search you will find the Riddex fellow is in the first result. But for now here is a picture of the little guy for confirmation.

In passing I noticed that Ophelia said something about Jerusalem Crickets. Here is that link for you, too

OK, it does NOT sound like TERMITES (termites have a 2 segmented body as opposed to ants that have 3 segments), and I'm sure I could tell you exactly what they are if I could only see them. Since I cannot, the best I can do for you is point you to a place you can check for yourself.

That place is here:

Please let us know. If you need additional information, I can put you in direct contact with an entomologist familiar with your area.

Since I have no pic, it's hard to say but from your description it sounds like termites. Did the ground get treated for termites berfore concrete was poured? I know for fact they do this as we own a concrete business

It's very possible it could be what is known as a 'Children of the earth' or jerusalem cricket. They're very ant like in the young stage, and easily squishable. They're usually found farther west, though, like New Mexico and Arizona.

they are may flies, or fish flys, every year they migrate , mate and then die, I ran into millions of them myself and was amazed at the millions that radiate towards light, but mother nature has this happen to feed the birds and fish and turtles and all things to reproduce more of everything. the only thing I wonder is if they mate and die where are the eggs to regenerate the spiecies?
