where when they get upset, out of habit they subconsciously start scanning the room for something sharp. but do u think that it is something that will go away with time?

I know a few people who have done it and after a couple of years they say that they havent had any urges to do it. It could be a psychological thing in their past or something..The only way that i believe they would do it again is if the same situation came up (that caused them to start cutting the first time).. Good Luck =)

My mom works in a counseling center and she told me that they will ALWAYS have the urge it will never go away just like drinking you will always think about it because for so long you depended on that one thing to save you from a difficult situation and it is hard to find something to fill that space....but there are wonderful people in this world that can help you cope and put you on the right path

A lot will depend upon the person's personality and willpower ... there will be times when they might have the desire to do so again, but through self talk and reassurance that they have come a long way and have improved their life since stopping cutting, they can get through the episodes that trigger this need, and feel stronger and more empowered for it.

Im not a cutter, but I know someone who is, actually, they just told me they wanted to cut themselves, and it has been years, I dont know, I believe you grow out of it, hope your not cutting, if you are, get some help, it doesnt solve anything, do something that will make a change, get some help.
