For a vaginal delivery, the average is 48 hours. For a c-section, as long as there are no complications, the average is 5-7 days.

how long you stay in the hospital after having a c-sec depends on the reason you had one. My sis had to stay 3 days. My nephew is a wk old tomorrow. I only had to stay two days when I had my daughter. Also I had a friend that went home the next day. Because she has a hospital phobia.

My first pregnancy, complicated by preeclampsia, ended with three weeks of bedrest, 52 hours of induced labor, 2.5 hours of pushing, and an emergency C-section. She was born on a Wednesday afternoon, and we went home Saturday morning. But she was jaundiced, and we had to come back to the hospital on Sunday to have her checked.

My second pregnancy, also complicated by preeclampsia, ended with a scheduled C-section. But my blood pressure didn't drop after the birth, and she was jaundiced, so they just kept us both a little longer for observation. She was born on a Tuesday morning, and we went home Saturday.

Brimo is correct. Also, the time starts from the moment of delivery - not when you check in. So if you're in the heat of pushing and it's 11:55 p.m. - hold on until 12:01 and you get another night in the hospital (if you want it!).

I dont know about regular, as i've had two c-secs, but the first one I was in for three days, and the second for six. I had diferrent docs both times and I think it depends on the doc you have.

I stayed about three days. Everything went fine, so I came home as soon as they can let ya.
If it all goes well, and you can walk, and all that good stuff, (which is really hard to do :) then you will get to come home in about three days. Just expect that you are going to need help, because you really are in a lot of pain for about a week, then it slowly begins to go away. The worst thing to me, was trying to cough, oh it hurts......... I hope everything turns out good for you and your little one!

it all just depends on the person...if all goes well the mother tends to be in the hospital about 1-2 days. not if there's problems then you could be in there for a while
