Well, it could be a torn ligament or a strained muscle. Whatever it is, your body is trying to tell you something. I hear it screaming, "PLEASE LET ME REST UNTIL I CAN HEAL MYSELF" . Try listening to your body or you may permanently damage yourself. Good luck.

It could be many things. I'm not a doctor, but I do have hip pain myself which developed after I was a ballet dancer for 10 years and performed numerous over-extensions of my legs. My doctor diagnosed me with sciatica a few years ago. Since then, I've learned to avoid the situations that cause the pain, mainly dancing and stretching. You're too young however to do that so keep on your Mom and get to a doctor so you can start doing gymnastics again. Your doctor may tell you that you just need some physical therapy to stretch out your muscles. Let me know what happens!

could be a torn tendon, could be an irritated sciatic nerve, could be a lot of things. The best thing to do is see a doctor. An orthopedic doctor is probably the best option, since thats what they deal with. Until then, try taking an anti-inflammatory like Advil or Motrin. Moist heat like a heating pad might help. 30 min on, 30 min off. Rest the muscles for a while to prevent any further damage, and tell you mom that you need to get checked.

I know exactly how you feel!! I'm in level 7 almost 8 gymnastics, and we are learning so many new things. Talk about bad luck!! I hyperextended my knee while doing a dismount off of the bars! I also have to miss a tennis match! I would say to rest and apply ice If the pain still continues, see a doctor. If you could help me w/ my questions that would be great! What level are you in?? I hope you feel better soon!!

I would treat it as a strain of the muscle as long as you are able to do other things (doubt it would be a fracture). Put ice on it, rest when you can, and take Ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) as they are anti-inflammatory drugs and will help with the pain. If it doesn't get better after a couple weeks, tell your mom to get you to the doc!!

when you have a problem with muscles, go to the health professionals that specialize in dealing with muscle conditions: massage therapists. find one that deals in deep muscle work & has been in business for at least 4 yrs. (they'll have developed their style.) if you can find a neuromuscular massage therapist, even better! r.m.t.'s have hundreds of hours training in hands on treatment of muscle disfunctions. check your yellow pages under "massage therapy". all legitamate therapists will be registered with the state department of health.
if you live in southwestern texas, contact me directly. good luck!
