I assume you are limiting your inquiry to somewhat popular music familiar in the West. A strong contender has to be the English folk song "Greensleeves" which dates from at least 1580. It is commonly known today as the tune for the Christmas carol "What Child is This". If you wish to widen your inquiry, Gregorian Chant would probably be the oldest dating from about the year 500 and worldwide, there are folk and religious melodies from some of the older cultures such as Hindu and Aboriginal Australian which I'm sure are hundreds or thousands of years old.

There is world music from Africa and other nations that goes back hundreds, maybe thousands of years that is still being played in one form or another. What about Vivaldi's music from the Baroque era, that dates back to the 15th century. Folk music from Europe also goes way back, so take your pick and Google the appropriate areas, I am sorry as I don't have time to do the specific research for you right now.

The first music video on MTV was "Video Killed The Radio Star," by The Buggles.

There are a lot of oldies stations that play stuff from the 1960s, and you are hard pressed though to find songs from the 1940s-50s.

Beatles and Rolling Stones were the forerunners of rock.
