Been to Indonesia and liked it and you're right --- it is hot down there...also i have traveled to Alaska and almost froze, lol....Most northern people are born there and have adjusted to the winters and those that can't stand it usually head south, sort of how you're ready to head north....However some people in northern states like the cold just fine and enjoy skiing, sledding etc...hope you find the cooler location that you're looking for..good luck.

We get tired of it when we get it year after year after year. And it makes it all worse when the snow gets so bad you can't leave the house, you have to crank up the heat, then it knocks out the electricity, people die in accidents involving ice on the streets, it hurts to breath because it drops into the negatives and freezes your lungs, etc. And I live near Philadelphia where it's not even that bad! There's WAAAAY more to winter than the pretty little flurries in the Christmas card scenes that most people see. It can be such a pain sometimes.

It's kind of like how you probably get tired of it being hot all the time and the sun being out constantly while people in Greenland probably think it's fantastic.

Winter only sounds wonderful because you don't have it. Picture a temperature of 30 degrees BELOW zero (and that's before the wind). Remember that water will freeze at 32 degrees ABOVE zero, so you can start to imagine how cold that is.... it's cold enough that you can feel the inside of your nose start to freeze when you inhale. Now add in wind, so little daylight that it's dark when you leave for work and dark again by the time you come home. Now, on top of that, you can add in snowstorms of 6-12 inches regularly that completely ice over the roads and bring traffic to a complete stop.

and those are the GOOD days!

Northern People have winter about 8 months out of a year. They just get tired of being cold.

Because it is such a contrast to hot. The summer season can reach into 40C here in Australia and then suddenly you are plunged into freezing weather. Coughs, colds, influenza, sore throats hang around. One minute you are shivering and then suddenly the sun is out, like today, so off I go out for a walk to enjoy this beautiful weather whilst I can.
Wehave another three months of this cold weather .

You have never shoveled a long, wide driveway full of 8 inches of snow for 6 hours!! Do you think the "driveway fairy" shovels, or maybe some magical hindu cow? NO! Snow is heavy and wet, and abot 50 people die from heart attacks EVERY YEAR from the strain of shoveling. Yep, we really love snow.

I love the winter too I am originally from pennsylvania . Most of us love to watch the snow but we do get tired of it after a while all the shoveling of the snow, waitin gin a cold freezing car for it to defrost, chipping ice off of your windshield, dangerous road conditions, etc. It's exhausting after awhile.

Go stand in a walk-in-freezer for about 1/2 an hour. Pretend you're waiting for a bus. Repeat after 8 hours. Any other questions?

THAT'S why you LOVE winter. it's so different from what you usually experience. i live in minnesota, USA. and we have some of the coldest winters anywhere, barring antarctica. and let me tell you, when you step outside and it HURTS to breathe because it's -30 f, so cold that ANY exposed skin will freeze in 30 seconds, and you could skid on icy roads and into trees, other cars, and die.... yes, winter is WONDERFUL. i WONDER why i still live here! ;o)
