I just did the drive from San Jose to Portland, which took 12 hours (no traffic), including two stops for gas and a half hour to eat. Mapquest said it would take less time, but doesn't account for gas or food stops. The drive from Portland to Seattle took me 3 hours without traffic. I'd allow 15 - 16 hours for the drive.
