Just curious? I am pregnant and I was wondering if I'm carrying a boy or a girl. Some say if your baby has a fast heart beat it is a girl, and if it's slow then it's a boy. I just want to seperarte fact from fiction.

no wives tale can be backed by scientific fact. but i can tell you that my OB nurse told me the same thing about the heart beat and it was accurate in my pregnancy. if its above 140 its a girl.

Both times the wives tales said I was having a girl (even the ring test, etc) and I had boys both times.

The only sure ways to tell are to wait until the baby is born, or have an amniocentesis, or with an ultra-sound. Sometimes the ultra-sound doesn't work because of the position of the baby. You have to be able to see the male genitalia during the ultra-sound.

That heart rate/gender correllation is bogus. It's debunked all over the place. (Were it true, both of my daughters would have been boys.)

The "high and out front = boy" and "low and wide = girl" thing is also not true.

Old wives tales were true in both of my cases. They will only hold true for you, though, if you believe in them.

As far as pregnancies go I don't think there is any way to tell other than an ultrasound. Every pregnancy, every woman and every baby is different, and you can never really tell.
