I get really sick of all the homophobic protest the gays chant about. They are always crying equal right, but they talk about other people like they are dogs. I know A LOT of gay men,( I own a theater in the southern district) All they do is talk about others. They make fun of the special Olympic children I invite to matinee shows, they make fun of every person who is fat, they mock and taunt the winenos who congregate in the parking lot. They are down right crule to the old toothless janitor who cleans the dressing & green rooms. (he does a great job I might add). They treat the ushers & ticket sales reps, (older very bright women) like they are dogs. They are just down right nasty...but 10 minutes later they are screaming equal rights. I try to be a good employer, and hate to fire them because of I'm sure I'll be slapped with an EEO lawsuit. I just can't take it any more. Why the double standard?

I guess I should have worded this differently. First off, I didn't mean all Gays, just the ones That work for me. Many of them are very talented men, but are my employees, not particularly, my friends. I guess my problem is, I've tried to hire a wide varity of ethnic, cultural and alternitive life styled people and do not have this problem with the lesbians who work on light & sound, the transgender who is the costumes manager, etc. Oh well, I guess no ones can really help, I just need to tell them to shape up or ship out.

You see an unfortunate segment of the population. Not all gays are like that though. Not all gay guys live in the "gay ghetto" or hit the "trendy" areas. But there are a lot that act exactly the way you describe and it gives the rest a bad name.

I chose not to be a member of the gay group, but I respect the members as individuals in a free society.
I suspect the problems that we are experiencing are do to difficulties gaining recognition, stability, acceptance and membership in the larger community. It seems reasonable doesn't it?
It is of course not easy being a person of any type in this American reality, and I suspect that all of us in American are arguing about something with someone. We are in a major transitional period, but we do not see it yet. There in lies the rub.
I suggest we all invent a new language in an effort to help create a different reality that is accepting, tolerant of our differences, and willing to imagine the possibility's for the future, but alert also for the known pitfalls like totalitarian thinking.
Cut the cords that hold us back I say, but also be ready to accept changes by imagining a new America.
The one we live in, now, has had its greatness, but we can build on it's foundation and do so much better, as our forefathers hoped we would. What we can not afford to do is to remain unchanged.

How many people is this?
I know a lot of gay/bi people that are NOTHING like that, and I highly doubt a lot of others are.
I seriously think you were stuck with the wrong group of people, because they aren't all like that.
But on the other hand, I do understand how that really is annoying, and I am totaly discusted in how crule they are to the staff... thats horrible. Nobody deserves to be treated like that. How can they file a lawsuit if the USA is so friggen bias about gays being horrible people, anyway?

I agree that there are some gay men that are really rude and haughty but the same goes for the rest of humanity men woman lesbians and yes gay men too If they are disrespectful to customers then you need to document that with write-ups and establish a termination point and then fire them or better yet consult an attorney and find out all the legalities

Many have been victimized and lash out at all the people that they see as normal. This is where the in your face gays come from. The ones that just want to live and let live are not like that they just want to live as normal a life as they can. They want the conventions of society and they want the rights to pursue happiness.

What you are describing sounds like the actions/antics of a bunch of low self-esteem teens or college kids to me rather than "gay people".
While I do not doubt that you are correct that they are gay, I wonder if perhaps it's something other than their "gayness" that is causing them to do these things.
Every "alternative lifestyle person" (how's THAT for political correctness! LOL) I have ever known has been just like everyone else I have known with the exception of our "intimate lives".
Perhaps *I* have been very lucky or perhaps there is something to be said for not being so quick to attach actions to a sexual preference.
Just my two cents for what they are worth!

i have quite a few gay friends and they don't treat anyone that way. maybe the gay guys u know are just assholes who want everything handed to them on a silver platter and use equal rights for gays as a way to act mean to people but when they act mean to people they just like the idea of being able to yell that they have been discriminated against.

Maybe its more about you and who YOU know.. I don't know anybody like that. Just because you meet some people like that who are gay it doesn't mean all gay people are like that.
The main point is gay people are diverse... they are a lot like 'people' that way. Why should gay people be holier than thou, but straight people can do what they want. I think your the one with the double standard, otherwise you would fire their *** long ago.

The gays you talk about, not all gay men are like that as a matter of fact, many gay men are friendly and accept straight people and they don't treat people like crap

Not all gays are like that, nor are only gays like that. Also, I'd imagine spending your life being mocked by macho assholes and told you're going straight to hell by the religious has a habit of making one bitter.
