Plays reflect the four seasons of the year and the four phases of life:

spring/childhood: Farce, the innocence of a situation that others take seriously.

summer/youth, early adulthood: Comedy, particularly romantic comedy, the lightness of living, the search for romance

autumn/adulthood: Drama and Tragedy, the seriousness of life

winter/elderhood: Satire, recovering from the seriousness of life to see wry humor and the potential to change others' views of life

The classic structure of a drama is three acts consisting of a beginning, a middle, and an end. Generally speaking life to has three acts. In the beginning or the first act humans are born, learn how to do things, and encounter basic problems. In the middle or second act most humans get a more advanced education, get a full time job, get married, and possibly have children, In the final act, humans wrap things up. become wiser, and eventually die.
