I started my job 7 years ago and loved it, Since that time my boss hired his best friend and he and I dont get along in fact before he was hired he called me the "C" word. Not only did he get hired I have to deal with him on a daily basis as a supervisor. Now I am quitting but I feel quilty . Prior to this my boss was an awesome boss he would help any one anyway he could. But I cant stand his friend he is rude and thinks he knows everything. My boss knows I have been looking should I tell him the real reason I am quitting or just leave

He is now my supervisor and by the way my boss knew of the name calling before he hired him. I have 2 other bosses who know the reason and know that this man is a trouble maker but the 3rd boss brings in all the big money so they won't say anything. So I felt my options had ran out and I need to quit. I have a job opportunity but I feel so quilty as most of these people have become my friends

It's because you feel like you're abandoning your boss. It sounds like you're very loyal to the man and you don't want to leave him hanging minus one employee. But in the long run, I think, you made the right choice for yourself, and that's nothing to feel guilty about.

Question - is the new guy your supervisor now or are you the supervisor? If you are the supervisor be sure that you are evaluating him as employee on his performance and not how you feel about him. If he isn't working properly or giving you rude comments - tell your (and his) boss about it. If he is the supervisor, is he evaluating your performance appropriately, is he treating you professionally. if not treating you professionally, tell your (and his) boss about it. Do this before you actually quit, may the boss can make some adjustments like put you in separate divisions if possible. If you can't resolve differences and going to work is no longer enjoyable, then you must tell your boss the truth in why you're leaving.

I think he needs to know the truth about his friend. I am sure you are not the only person suffering under this man. Perhaps you had better wait until you have a new job, but before you leave, do your old boss a favor and let him know exactly why you are leaving.

I would tell him. Since he was a good boss, he would at least deserve to know why. 7 years is a long time.
Jobs are like that. I think if you are taking care of your responsibilites, there is nothing wrong with quitting your job.

Tell him the real reason, if your boss values you as an employee, and it sounds as if he does, then he will do what it takes to solve the problem, if not get right in the face of that bastard friend of your boss's and tell him exactly what you think of him.

Maybe you should consider to tell your boss on your last day of working there. Even-though it won't change anything.. at least you can ease away this suppressed feeling of not telling your good boss the true fact about his friends.
Collect all your courage to say it.. Good-luck \^__^/

You probably feel bad because you may feel that you didn't put
up a strong enough fight. Also it is because despite him, you
loved your job and he is the reason why you are quitting
something you care about.

I'd just put in my notice and go. If he asks why I guess you could tell him, but that's really up to you.
