I'm having two of them one of which will be out of town for my family only and the other will be in town for friends. When should I start planning for them?

It's usually custom in our family to have a baby shower around the 7th month of pregnancy. I went to a friend's shower once that was scheduled in the 8th month, who ended up giving birth early - so on the day of the shower, she was in the hospital! If you are planning on finding out what sex the baby is, a baby shower beforehand is best. If you don't want to know the sex, I would suggest having a "welcome baby" shower instead. You'll probably be discarding all the greens & yellows once the baby is born.

A good time to plan a baby shower will be around your 7-8month. Some woman do their baby shower after they have their child so people will know what the sex of the child is. It up to the mother which is about to give birth. But some, people try to presssure the mother to do it before she has the baby.

You shouldn't. It's very rude to host your own baby shower.

That said, usually a baby shower is held about six weeks before your due date. That way, you have some things in case you go early, and you have time to assemble stuff or make returns or buy anything you still need.

I threw 2 for my younger sister. She wanted to have a "birthday party" for the baby that included close friends and family only after the baby was born and she was home.

Her first shower was when she was about 7 months pregnant and was for her friends and coworkers.

The birthday party was thrown about 3 weeks after baby girl was born and was for CLOSE friends (her maid of honor at her wedding and godmother of daughter) and family. We had a blast!

Usually baby showers are given within 2 months of your delivery date. OR around your 7th month of pregnancy. That way mom isn't all tired out with carrying baby around and can enjoy the shower.

Not too late in your pregnancy. You will be way too tired to throw a baby shower if you're 8 months pregnant. Sometime around 5 or 6 months pregnant. Congrats!

If you already have the date of the shower picked out,I would say at least 1 month before. And send invitations out 1 1/2 weeks before.

There's a running joke in my circle of friends that if you have a shower in your last few weeks it will bring on labor, b/c that's happened to four of my friends. We usually have it around week 34 to 36 to be on the safe side. I'd plan it a couple of weeks before that time.

You don't throw your own shower, your friends and family will take care of it for you. Usually people have a shower about one month before their due date, that way if you happen to miscarry you won't have a bunch of baby stuff around reminding you about it.

Start planning them about 6 or 7 months (or when you know the sex of the baby so people know what type of stuff to get, but then have it around your 8th month. That's what most of my friends did.

Congrats!!!
