Sure you can, it's not actually bamboo but a dracena (sanderiana) Pot it or plant outside in a protected area. It'll get a lot bigger in dirt.

From what I've read they can sometimes start growing pale, white leaves but you can remedy that with an iron supplement ( Ironite )

lucky bamboo isn't really bamboo, i don't know if you can plant it, but if you need a bigger place to put it, i'd recomend put it in a pile of rocks that is usually filled to the top

I did, mine is growing fine.
edit: I put it in soil about 2 years ago, and it has grown almost a foot
