My friend has a girlfriend. He's been with her for 5 years. She takes prozac and is an alcoholic.
She has kicked him out several times over disputes, her drinking and he keeps going back. She owns the house he stays at when he goes home to visit. He has a place he rents in another state close to his work. He complains about her behaviour but still stays.
He told her it was over Monday and the next day or that same night she's in the hospital with some problem. It's Friday and he went back home to see her. He talks about leaving her and he hasn't yet.
He is a good man, I enjoy talking to him. He's smart and witty, but I can't seem to get thru to him that she is not good for him. He has another place to go and he has a good job but he still stays with this woman with all her issues. He's asked her to change but she hasn't. It's been ongoing for 5 years.
I do like him,I'm attractive, smart,I don't drink or do drugs and we get along great, but he keeps going back to her. WHY?

He was in another state when he broke up with her.

You should not get involved with him while he is still in relationship; and you don't want to be the cause of the breakup. Let the relationship run its natural course. You truly do not know what goes on behind closed doors or what the basis is for this relationship.

to him it does not seem to matter how bad she is, he's in love with her. You can be the best and the most beautiful person, however, since he's in love with her, he does not see you, how you are and it also does not matter to him, the more things you say about her that are bad, even if they really are, the more he's going to want her. It's the ugly truth, I'm in a similar situation, and I realized that no matter how good you are to someone, you can't make them love you.
