One of my closest friends had some emotional issues, and sometimes I think maybe he was abused as a child and that's the reason why he's like that. What are some things that would tell me if I am right or wrong about this?

try asking him nicely show you care. I knew a girl that was sexually abused. She had a difficult time trusting people. She said it didn't happend to her but her sister. If she wasn't abused why did it affect her more than her sister?

Ask him. Ask him what he has learned about himself from considering his childhood. Also, these days abuse has many different meanings.

If you're good friends already just ask them to open up to you, if they feel like talking about it, they will.

You can talk to him. If he will not open up to you then
you can't force him to. When he feels the time is wright then he will.Trust me I know!!
