why do eastern countries avoid western influence?

Because they have little in common. Its human nature to feel comfortable with people that share common values and beliefs. If God wanted us to all be the same we would not have evolved from different continents and be different colors. Lets be honest - we are not all the same and we never will be! That's just the way it is.
Have you not noticed how rude many foreigners are to Americans? They work in small, local stores and ignore you, except to accept payment for a purchase. The first thing they learn is American money. They resent us and show it by their rude behavior. They are not grateful to be here; they think we owe them something. Guess what? We don't! When is the last time a foreign clerk said "Hello" or Thank You" to you? Most of them even avoid eye contact. This is not the American Way!

Because they are raised to believe that the other culture is not as good, wise, or worthwhile. They are led to believe the stereotype that surrounds the culture and they dont take time to learn how the culture truely is.

To avoid clashing, because of the disagreeing viewpoints, because sometimes one culture will rip off another and then re-write it to suit their needs.... lots of reasons and they don't all have to be racist.
