to an extent..i think it was more the beastie boys..they were the first white rappers to be taken seriously..vanilla was just a pop gimmicky rapper..no substance..ruined that queen song to boot..

Vanilla Ice was a rip off artist. So the industry was probably critical of Emenim but his talent showed him to be different. way different and a lot more talented.
