It is interesting that you know what you want to do at your age, but I work in a hotel and I met this woman who was 27 years old. She designed shoes, she said every since she was a little girl, she would draw shoe designs on paper, and now she made them in Italy.

She was showing her designs to Nordstroms.

I believe that you look in fashion magazines and draw dresses how you would like them to look. Experiment with color, style, fabrics...see what has been popular in history.

I went to the Costume Gallery in Bath England, and it showed styles of clothing from the 1700's to current trends. Some styles repeat themselves.

Just knowing what you want to do is a major part of the battle. Take art classes, and some math courses. Most importantly have fun! Watch designer programs on TV.

You are on your way to a very bright future!

look on the net and contact established fashion designers and ask for tips to get started. u are legally too young to work but that doesnt mean u cant design and work up a good portfolio of creations. get urself a used pattern book.. u can buy them at walmart for $2. get some tracing paper, trace out poses and begin to draw ur own designs on these poses. i worked in a company that brought in fashion designers from toronto and this is what they did.. they had predrawn poses then we added the fashions to it with water colour.. practice ur water color skills, see if the library has books to help u get started and best wishes.. you can do anything that you want to with a lot of hard work and persistance.

When I was in high school I was amember of Explorers, it is associated with the Boy Scouts of America. Have you thought about volunteering at a place in which you have a career intrest. Maybe the local hospital if you are interested in a health career. I am not sure if the organization still exists but if you think you are interested in businees, look for a Junior Acheivement group in your area. Hope this helps

You need to look to the future, you are still young so have many chances to form and change your path to reaching the proffession you want to achive.

Try going to art schools so you can get the necessary artistic ablitiys to design Clothes or search the internet to find out how big name fashion designers started out.

Be sure to take ART and HOME EC. or whatever it's called in your school. You need home ec. so you can learn the basics of sewing and patterns, and improving your art skills will allow you to be able to sketch and share your ideas.

Go work with people who are doing what you like. Work hard, don't get paid and you'll learn a lot.
