I wanna upgrade the memory on my Gateway MX6025 Laptop. Can I just get the kind on sale "notebook memory" from my computer discount giant, or do I need a special kind?

It's recommending here PC2700 and PC3200 but I believe that your model takes DDR 333 PC2700 memory. It could fit both, but to be on the safe side, I would get PC2700.

There are different types of RAM and it isn't a 1 type fit's all deal.

Do you still have the documentation for your laptop? If you have kept this documentation, look for hardware and see if you have a motherboard or "general" hardware guide. There should be a section about what kind and speed of memory is compatible with your notebook. Be careful about buying that discounted notebook memory, as there are selections of types and speed (such as DDR and DDR2, and for speed there is 300, 333, and 400Mhz).

Shouldn't need much memory to do it. But if you upgrade yoru operating system, be aware that you might lose everything you had on the computer. So be sure to back up save it, first.

Put the model in the Crucial memory finder at

www.crucial.com

That will give you the exact type you need.
