You could have a lot of programs going on that you don't even know about. A great free tool for this is Scotty the Watchdog, which allows you to see what programs are running. Some programs will run and not let you know that they are or they don't want you turning them off. Some load automatically on startup. Scotty will let you decide what does and doesn't run and it's real easy to use. You may also have a virus, AVG is good freeware for that. HIjackThis will also let you know if there is a virus in the registry files...Also, you need to clean out the spyware with free Spybot and Ad-Aware. Defrag, clean out temp files (you can go to -Find-Files *.tmp and delete them all! Your memory has a lot to do with it as well, it might be time for an upgrade. You should have at least 512mb RAM for a good running machine. That's if your machine can hold it. It also depends on your processor and bus speed. There are too many variables to your problem to give you a straight answer...sorry....

There are several possibilities here:
1. Your PC has spyware. This is very possible if you have a high-speed connection (DSL or faster). Try an anti-spy program like Microsoft AntiSpyware and/or Spybot Search and Destroy
2. You hard drive is fragmented. Run Disk Defragmenter (Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools) to fix it.
3. You have too much stuff piled up in your temp file. Go to Run (Start-Run), then type in "temp" (no quotes). Delete EVERYTHING in that file.
4. You simply need more RAM. I if you are running Windows XP, 128 MB is the minimum, not the best (and it *will* run slow). Ask your local tech guru to install some for you (should be less than $100).
Hope this helps a little.

need more info, but try spy bot search and destroy, also turn your comp off once in a while to help clear the cache. run virus scans, clean dirt from the heat sink between your CPU and fan, defrag hard drive and delete items if your hard drive is almost full. add more ram, make sure your using an OS that will work well on your computer old slow computer with Windows XP is bad, takes to much just to run windows, nothing left to run programs.

either u have a small ram128mb or there is more files than u can hold on ur system the best way is to increase ur ram to 512mb and download an ad blocker (ex:spy sweeper) because if u have a broadband connection lot of ads pop up and they get stored in your tempoary internet folder. If nothing works try rebooting ur system with the cd provided are go to a customer service agent.

It takes awhile, even yet it rather is nicely worth it to be waiting to observe movies without it pausing each jiffy.

Clean out your temporary files. On your browser click on tools, then Internet options. When that screen pops up click on settings.
Another screen will pop up and click on view files.
A lot of temporary files will show. Go to your tool bar again and click Edit, When that comes up, click select all.
That will make all the temporary files blue. Click on delete which will be on top.
Clean out your temporary files at least once a week.
Good luck.
If you have a spy bot remover, run that.
If you don't have one, a good free one is:
www.search&destory.com.
My internet tech told me about it and it is great.
