My 12 and 7 year old daughters share a room and they are constantly fighting and calling each other names. What can I do that will get the most results without being mean, yelling and threating to ground them until they get along? Am I asking to much in expecting this to happen? Any advise on what I can do to try to get this to slow down? I don't expect this to stop, but can it get better? Thank you in advance.

If possible, I would get them their own rooms. If this is not possible, then I would simply make clear to your daughters that they are not allowed to call each other names or yell at each other. Don't say "no fighting" because disagreements are inevitable, just make clear that there are acceptable and unacceptable ways to argue. For every yelling/name calling offense, they will be fined $1 or whatever you think is appropriate, perhaps moving bedtime or crefew up half an hour would work better. What ever the rules are, make sure everyone agrees to follow them and that includes you mom, that will they will see it as fair. Do not try to resolve their fights, let them do that themselves and above all, don't take sides. Simple reinforce the fair fighting rules and when/if they do make it a day without arguing, lavish them with praise.

well i have a twin sister and we always used to fight ...but now that we're 17, we've stopped... the older they're gonna get the more childish it'll seem to fight... well my mom would lock us into our rooms and we couldn't come out until we said sorry. i don't think u'll be able to stop them but i guess it's not asking too much although i always thought it was, but it'll teach them. but u could try to help them solve their problems... although this is usually very hard.. okay i don't think i'm helping much but i wish you good luck!

well sisters fight its natural but you should get them in a behavior class or counseling let em fight but u should stop it when it gets real serious anyway let them try to work it without fighting if they work it out without fighting then giv them a treat if they dont work it out then punish them but let em fight ITS making them tougher so when they get to fighting wit an attacker then they defense will be an A+
