there is a server network that keeps a listing of who has what files. then during search, the network allows you to Que up the search into a system that allows the bandwith to cram together and allow a "pipeline" download direct to you, which makes download speeds quicker

Limewire is a peer-to-peer network (P2P) so that there is no central server that stores data (audio, video, etc.). Instead data is stored on several computers that have the Limewire software installed. When you download, you basically downoad the client. When you search for a file, the client searches for that particular file among the computers in the Limewire P2P network. If it finds the required file and you decide to download it, your computer acts as the client and the computer from which you are downloading from acts as the server. So there is no need for a centralized server that hosts the files.
Similarly, when someone else searches for a file and finds them on your computer and starts downloading it, your computer acts as the server and his computer is the client. So there is a role-reversal. Of course, you can disable others from downloading files from your computer. But that would defeat the purpose of this "community network".
When you try searching for songs, you are actually navigating through the network!

i have Limewire so i can help you.
Once you have downloaded it, you'll see a column to the far left of the screen saying 'All types, then file name underneath'.
If you look above this you'll see 6 tabs, click on the category you want eg. music, video and type in what you are looking for.
Within a few seconds results will come up and you pick whatever eg.song you want and click 'download'.

Just as a reminder, that unless you are specifically downloading music licensed under a Creative Commons License or open domain music, it is illegal to use programs to download copyrighted works such as music, movies, or software. Many people have been sued by the RIAA for violating this copyright. If you do use these services for illegal use (for example, downloading your favorite Green Day or Mariah Carey song), you are open to legal implications.

You just need to type in what files you want to search to. For example, if you want to download a song entitled "rain", all you need to do is type rain in the search box and choose what type of file is it. If it is a song, choose audio. If it is a movie, then choose video. And after you search the keyword, some results will appear. All you need to do is to choose from the results which you want to download and after you have chosen that file, just right- click on it and choose download. After that, the file that you want will begin downloading.

First, don't use it because you could get sued by the music industry for using it. Second, it shares music between you and other Limewire users and takes a lot of setting up. Third, it's a waste of time, go out and buy cds or use iTunes music store for 99 cents a song you get them in new condition instead of whatever the recording someone else has after someone else had it and it is degraded from all the sharing.

limewire is easy to use program, and not have spywares like kazaa or bearshare or morpheus, just run the program with internet connection and search for anything you want like movies, songs, musics, TV shows, programs, ringtones, etc..., then download.
Limewire is a very great "p2p" program i've ever seen
kazaa and bearshare and morpheus and imesh and frostwire very poor progrmas and contains spywares and viruses.
